Carolinians Battle at Bangga sa Banggiitan
A clash between brains erupted in the university as student organizations began the final day of the Week of Welcome with Bangga sa Banggiitan.
The contest was organized by the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and was held in the Lawrence Bunzel building lobby yesterday morning. A total of 29 student organizations, both co-curricular and extracurricular, joined the event.
Coming out on top at first place was CAFA Council, followed by the Junior Financial Executives (JFinEx) at Second Place, then University of San Carlos Architecture Society (UAPSA) at Third Place. The winning teams took home cash prizes and gift certificates.
Organizations who participated in the Bangga include Civil Engineering Council (CEC), Chemical Engineering Society (ChES) and Chemical Engineering Club (ChEC) from the College of Engineering; University of San Carlos Architecture Society (UAPSA) and CAFA Council from the College of Architecture and Fine Arts; and Chemistry Students Association (CHEMSA), Carolinian Physics Society (PHYSOC), Carolinian Historical Society (CHS) and Psychology Society (PSYSOC) from the College of Arts and Sciences. Main Campus-based Junior Financial Executives (JFinEx) from the School of Business and Economics joined as well. Meanwhile, the College of Education took charge of the scoring.
Bangga sa Banggiitan, or Battle of the Brave, is patterned after the popular Slogos Night, a trivia game that is hosted weekly at Sprockets cafĂ© or Cable Car. The content of most questions range from pop culture to general knowledge. As an added twist, players have “powers” to double points, copy another team’s answers and even block opponents from scoring.
The winners of the Bangga, along with the winners of the SO Booths, were awarded during the last segment of Pasigarbo sa USC, the culminating event of the Week of Welcome.
