Glenn Joseph Rabor and Ralph Gonzales, political science and business administration majors, respectively, rankedfourth in the 15th Academic Season General Information / Current Events Quiz Bowl last Feb. 5, 2016 at the Activity Center of Ayala Center Cebu, held by the Cebu Schools Athletics Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI).
The quiz bowl was participated in by different schools, namely the University of Cebu (UC), Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U), University of San Carlos (USC), University of San Jose- Recoletos (USJR), Southwestern University (SWU), Cebu Doctor’s University (CDU) and University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF), who also coordinated with CESAFI to host the event.
It was a tight competition with only one-point differences in between the top three winners. With 24 points, University of Cebu (UC) placed second runner up. With 25 points, University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) placed first runner up and with 26 points, Cebu Doctor’s University (CDU) was deemed champion.
“I hope we could have prepared for a longer time for it, we only had less than two weeks preparation and I knew it from the very start that we are so weak with literature, they know it. Our contenders knew it from the very start,” said Rejene Tan Lakibul, Rabor and Gonzalez’s coach.
“We are so strong with history but so weak with literature and as you can see earlier, daghan kayg nangawas na literature; but anyway, we had a pretty good fight. We placed fourth and I think that is an achievement already,” Lakibul added.
