USC-DOP holds 3rd IRC

The University of San Carlos- Department of Pharmacy (USC-DOP) held the 3rd School of Health Care Professions (SHCP) International Research Conference (IRC) in the Michael Richartz Tourism Center at the Talamban Campus last February 10-11, 2017.
With the theme, “Interdisciplinary Health Research: Generating Evidences & Engaging Partners to Improve Health Delivery”, the conference gathered different professionals and experts locally, nationally and globally to discuss and exchange ideas in their respective fields of work.
The first day of the event officially kicked off with the welcome remarks of Mrs. Yolanda Deliman, the dean of SHCP and followed immediately with an inspirational message by the university president, Fr. Dionisio Miranda, SVD. The plenary session started with the keynote speaker, Dr. Jonathan Erasmo.
The rest of the guest speakers followed starting with Ms. Rena Dona, PhD, the assistant country director of the United Nations Population Fund who discussed the Sustainable Development Goals. It was then followed by Ms. Marilou Perlas-Furio, PhD, FSQUA, the consultant for Clinical Care at Mt. Grace Hospital Inc., Manila, and lastly, Ms. Joo Hee Kim, PharmD, professor for Clinical Pharmacy of Ewha Woman’s University, Seoul, South Korea.
An open forum was initiated and certificates were presented to the speakers signalling the end of the morning session.
In the afternoon of the first day, student oral presentations happened simultaneously in the Rigney Hall and Robert Hoeppener Hall wherein students from different universities namely: University of San Carlos, University of the Visayas (UV), Bohol Island State University and Universitas Jember from Indonesia, presented their researches in front of a panel of reactors from USC.
On the second day, professionals from USC, UV, Universitas Jember, and Negros Oriental State University presented their researches in front of another panel of reactors who are still from the university. The awarding of the presenters followed which concluded the two-day research event.
