Curtain Call 2018: Dagway Sa Gugma

The University of San Carlos (USC) Performing Arts group staged its yearly Curtain Call, a musical and theatrical segment of USC Days, by performing the piece “Dagway Sa Gugma” last Oct. 24, 2018 at the Rudolf Rahmann Cultural Center of the university’s South Campus.
This year’s show was centered on love, its faces and the values surrounding it. The production, directed and written by Mary Anne Lumacang, explored the experiences of love by three close friendsMarie, Elsie and Emee, who were played by Regina Carla Albino, Cristina Mae Diaz and Sofia Coleen Ando, respectively and was narrated by Clyde Miñoza as Georgia.
The segment opened with a prayer followed by singing the national anthem and USC Hymn and then a video presentation interviewing random people with the question of “Para nimo unsa’y dagway sa gugma[For you, what is the face of love?].?”
The Performing Arts group this year was composed of USC Choristers, USC Dance Troupe and USC Theatre Guild. The performance was filled with comedy, drama, music and dance as delivered by the group.
“Every year it is something new. You can’t compare because we have different sets of actors,” the director explained when asked on this year’s performance of the show.
Among the cast of the show were Maestro Roberto del Rosario as the musical director, Jose Miguel Cabasagan as the choreographer, Golda Lisi Villahermosa as the production manager and Ziarlie Arnaiz as the assistant director, with the technical team was headed by William Jerris Hulsey. Other actors included Emmanuelle Casquejo as JR, Christopher Mitch Fuerzas as Joseph, Athanasius Barlam as Father Ed and Kyle Emmanuel Laraga as Milton.
“I don’t know yet. I don’t have plans yet. I just wait for the inspiration to come. I just hope that the administration will continue to support a big production like this,” Lumacang said when interviewed on a next Curtain Call performance next year.
