Elements of the Earth: STEM week celebration
The Supreme Student Council in lieu of Student Ecological Movement, made a culmination of Mother Earth’s importance through the STEM Night. The event was held In University of San Carlos – Technological center Basketball Court last September 20, 2013, 6:30pm- 9:00pm.
Hon. Danica Bellaflor, SSC incumbent Councilor and main proponent of the STEM night said that the event offered by the Supreme Student Council is not only an ordinary event for it showcases entertainment at the same time calling for the youth to take part of her advocacy. During her younger years, she was already an environmentalist. Hon. Bellaflor finds her attachment to nature for she sees the importance of it to all of our lives. Nature as an essential part of our existence is something that we should preserve and conserve for the next generation. Until now she still is and will be an advocate of a greener society, she added.
The event’s theme is the four elements of nature namely, earth, water, fire and air. These elements are the inspiration of the night. In accordance to each element, the Carolinians from different departments based their talent inspiration. The program was filled with talents; dancing, singing, element interpretation, beat boxing and many more. The event also highlighted the Ecouture, a fashion show featuring recycled materials transformed into world class pieces. The clothing collection was designed by some of the University of San Carlos’ innovative and competitive Fashion designers.
Indeed, the event was a culmination of nature. From the theme, talents, skills and people behind, all are for one calling; Carolinians in action for Mother Earth’s conservation and preservation. From the numerous activities of the Student Ecological Movement S.T.E.M., until the STEM Night, the students of USC were enlightened that nature is really a part of our progress as a bolder society. Nature as a blessing is something that we should consider and take good care of.
Imagine our world without the greens and the vibrant feeling it gives. What would that be like?
