Nelson Mandela Photo Exhibit: A Pledge to Take Action and Inspire Change
Monday — December 2, 2013, The University of San Carlos (USC) and the Embassy of South Africa in the Philippines formally opened the Nelson Mandela photo exhibit to participate in the celebration of the Nelson Mandela International Day. The photo exhibit that took place at the USC Downtown Campus Museum Lobby was graced with the presence of Her Excellency, Agnes Nyamande-Pitso, Ambassador of the Philippines to South Africa and will be running from December 2 to 6, 2013.
Father Miranda welcomed the students, faculty and several visitors who came to the event with an invitation to celebrate history and all of Mandela’s efforts to hinder the apartheid, massive racism, inequality, and injustice of the nation during his time. Mandela, like the many other heroes who were agents to change, was compared to our very Jose Rizal. The USC dance troupe performed a folk dance to welcome the guests which was shortly followed by the ribbon cutting that formally opened the photo exhibit.
The exhibit features photographs of Mandela’s 67 years of public service while also reaching out to its audiences through an interactive way for people to become heroes themselves. The exhibit called for the public to take action and promote peace bringing social dynamism to every country.
