School of Education Hosts Tikad Kaalam 2015

To heed the call for a clean educational slate, the University of San Carlos -School of Education hosted their second Tikad Kaalam, with the theme “Panaliksik: Dalan sa Kalingbanong Kalambuan” (Research: Pathway for the Growth of Community), last August 26, 2015 in the Anthony Buchcik Hall in USC- South Campus as one of the activities for this year’s intramurals.
Tikad Kaalam, said to give emphasis on research, is a movement initiated in response to the theme of this year’s USC Days, “Cleaning the Educational Slate, Consolidating Renewed Foundation.” Sr. Geraldine D. Villaluz, RSCJ, the USC SED – Research Chair, said that the purpose of the event was to promote the idea that “all researches are not for the self, but it should be for the community.”
Researchers from different departments of the School of Education were given the opportunity to present their duki-duki, or researches, to some Education students and to a panel of reactors, which included Dr. Antonio E. Batomalaque, Coordinator of the USC Office of Accreditation Affairs, Dr. Rose Torres Yu, Professor Emeritus in UP Diliman and Prof. Ceasar Nimor, Adviser in the UC College of Teacher Education, Bio-Kinetics Society.
The studies that were showcased during the 2015 Tikad Kaalam included: “English for Academic Purposes: Reinforcing the Language Contextualized Subject in Senior High School” by Dr. Cristie Ann J. Delfin, “Responding to the Challenges of the K to 12 Mathematics Curriculum Reform: From Needs Assessment to Curriculum and Teacher Development” by Mrs. Enriqueta D. Reston, “Peace Concepts in the Context of a Teen Culture: An Ethnographic Study on Current Issues and Means of Self Expression among Teenagers” by Ms. Ana M. Diores, “Pastores de Naga: Pagtuon sa Lumadnong Sayaw sa Naga Cebu” by Astrid Ocampo and “Sining: Gahum sa Pagpalig-on sa Kinaiyang Nananganen sa Talaandig” by Sr. Geraldine Villaluz, RSCJ.
To commence the event, the reactors were given a chance to share a synthesis of their learnings, as well as ask questions regarding the various presentations, in the Pagpadayag sa mga Hunahuna segment.
