Sen. Grace Poe Joins Intrams Opening, Visits Cebu

Senator Grace Poe-Llamanzares visited the University of San Carlos-Downtown Campus (USC-DC) yesterday during the opening of intramurals where she was welcomed by a huge crowd of Carolinians.
Sen. Poe was invited by his former colleague Mike Lopez, a Carolinian alumnus, whom she considered as “one of the smartest” of the MTRCB (Movie and Television Review and Classification Board) Board of Directors she has worked with, thus, concluding the quality education USC provides to its students.
In her short talk, she stressed that her visit to the university is “nothing political”. She expressed her sympathy to the students’ needs by urging to grant a paid internship program in the government to deserving and hardworking students who want to help their parents. She also touched on the issue of the country’s internet congestion – having slow internet speed in such expensive price – for the United Nations declared internet as a basic human right since it is an avenue for students to gather information.
“Dapat po kami na nakaupo ay tumayo naman at tignan ang mga pangangailangan ninyo.” Poe said. She also reminded the students that the youth are the hope of the nation and she will do everything to fight for what the youth needs.
After her appearance in USC-DC, she attended a press conference in Lahug where she also answered some controversies she had, like that of her visit in Cebu yesterday which she also clarifies that it is of no political reasons.
Lastly, she was interviewed by Lopez in his show Open Mike, where some student leaders were invited as live audience of the show. Moreover, the university student political party Tingog Carolinian gave Sen. Poe an Honorary Membership Award.
