SSC, Admin and Canteens Implement CLAYGO Waste Disposal Bins
The university’s Supreme Student Council (SSC), in cooperation with the administration and the operators of the school’s various canteens, have taken strides in implementing newly-designed waste disposal bins to remind and aid students in practicing the Clean-as-You-Go campaign.
“It started when we got a message regarding the food in the canteen being unsanitary,” said Janet Dawn Abines, former SSC Vice President of AY 2016-2017. “After compiling our observations, we concluded that we did not have a proper disposal system for the canteens, which lead us to CLAYGO.”
Although CLAYGO has already been implemented as of this school year, canteen operators and school custodians have noted that students have ignored or even outright refused to follow the new directive. The new disposal bins, constructed by local furniture company Assab, are constructed from materials of the same grade as disposal bins in restaurants.
The new bins are projected to be implemented within the next academic year, and the SSC and university administration are in talks to enforce CLAYGO more strictly, possibly with disciplinary action.
