USC holds 459th Commencement Rites

University of San Carlos (USC) held its 459th Commencement Rites last April 10 – 11, 2017 at the South and Talamban Campuses. Each event started with a mass that was presided by the university’s president, Fr. Dionisio Miranda, SVD, and was followed by the Commencement Rites. The graduates proudly walked towards the stage to receive their diplomas and medals, and sang the USC Hymn and their graduation song afterwards, as the rites ended.
On April 10, graduates from the School of Education (SOED), the School of Healthcare Professions (SHCP), the Department of Hospitality Management and the Department of Economics, both belonging to the School of Business and Economics (SBE), had their rites at Rudolph Rahmann Cultural Center at USC South Campus at 7:30 A.M.
For SOED, there were 66 graduates with 12 Honor Students: five magna cum laudes, and seven cum laudes. For SHCP, there were 119 of them with 23 honor students: four magna cum laudes, and 19 cum laudes. In the afternoon, the graduates from the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) and from the Department of Political Science, got their turn in receiving their diplomas and awards.
For SAS, there were 407 graduates with 87 honor students: three summa cum laudes, 18 magna cum laudes, and 66 cum laudes. While in PolSci, there were 57 of them with 15 Honor Students: two magna cum laudes, and 13 cum laudes.
On that same day, the School of Architecture, Fine Arts, and Design (SAFAD) had their rites at the Church of St. Arnold Janssen in USC Talamban Campus, at 7:30 as well. From SAFAD, there were 280 graduates with five Honor students: two magna cum laudes, and three cum laudes.
In the afternoon, the School of Engineering (SOE) had their commencement rites. There were 345 graduates from SOE with 30 Honor students: six magna cum laudes, and 24 cum laudes.
On April 11, the Department of Business Administration and the Department of Accountancy, both from SBE, held their graduation rites. A total of 1331 graduates were from SBE with 274 honor students: one summa cum laude, 45 magna cum laudes, and 201 cum laudes.
For the undergraduate (Professional/ Baccalaureate) programs, there were a total of 2,605 graduates with 420 distinguished honor graduates.
For Graduate (Masterals/Doctorals) programs, there were 60 of them with one distinguished honor graduate. There were four from SAFAD, eight from SBE, six Doctorals and five Masterals for SOED, 36 from SAS, one from SOE, and another one from SAS with an honor of Maxima Cum laude.
