A Monster’s Nightmare
Hush. Did you hear that?
Perhaps it’s the squirm of a feline’s rat,
But it’s scratching. No, loudly banging.
Who am I kidding? Every single soul is resting.
As a shadow in the dark broke free,
Walls came charging towards me.
My head’s soon throbbing, my vision blurring,
Red, black and white swirls are all I’m gaping.
Eyes closed, illusions start reigning,
My world coated in pitch coal frosting.
A wave of fear is aiming at me,
Drowning my senses in torment’s sea.
Then the scent of rust filled my nozzle,
Thick blood smeared in every treble.
A hand of crimson that brushed my skin,
Chilled my spine that was once caved in.
I feel the rage racing for the grand prix,
It feels like a nightmare. Suddenly, it hit me,
It was me. Me all along.
Whispering my palaver like an old song.
Wake up, wake up, it’s all just a dream,
Escape from the pain that’s flowing like stream.
The growl’s your scream you’ve desperately suppressed,
Sweat from tears you’ve sobbed to death.
I opened my eyes and saw it was no inferno,
No sign of a monster succumb in his sorrows.
All that were left are the scars from my slitting feast,
A reflection of my own vicious beast.
