The third day of Talamban Campus (TC) Days ended with this year’s Praise Jam held at the BCT in USC-TC on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, with the theme “Ascend”.
The event was organized through the collective effort of Every Nation Campus (ENC), Elevate, Youth for Christ (YFC) and the Catholic Charismatic Carolinians (CCC).
Praise Jam started off at 7:30 PM with a prayer offered to the late Karen Kaye Montebon and the recent Lumad killings. This was followed by the singing of the national anthem and USC Hymn.
The initial praise and worship was led by the YFC, followed by an inspiring message from Clive Jason White of Elevate based on the night’s theme. White emphasized the different kinds of situations a student faces and the struggles that come with them. His message encouraged everyone to “ascend” above these struggles. White closed his message with the quote “True peace comes only from God”.
White’s message was inspired by the busy schedules and heavy schoolwork of students. With Praise Jam, he hoped to lift up their burdens with God’s word.
After the message, the praise and worship continued, led by the ENC that got everyone dancing. This was followed by a short dramatic play from the CCC. A video teaser of the University Youth Day was presented afterwards. The night ended at 9PM with another praise and worship session led by the CCC.
When asked about the goal of Praise Jam and what they intend to deliver through the event, the head organizer, Levie Anne Domingo, an Industrial Engineering student of USC, answered “We want to unite the people to praise and worship God and to showcase their talents”.
The third day of TC Days has already ended but there are still a couple of events in store for the week. Students can also look forward to Elan Vitale: Class Sociale, this year’s Flair on Friday, and the Mr. and Ms. TC 2015 pageant on Saturday.
