COMELEC Registration Held at the Wrocklage Yard

A COMELEC voter’s registration was held at the Wrocklage Yard of the USC Downtown Campus last July 16. The event was initiated by the Junior Jaycees in partnership with the Carolinian Political Science Society (CPSS), Leaders of Politics for Service (LPS), the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and First Time Voters Network (FTVN). Representatives from the Commission on Election (COMELEC) were present to facilitate the registration, which was open for voters who are residents of Cebu City.
The event was held for the benefit of all USC students and staff who have not yet registered but would like to exercise their right to vote during the upcoming elections. Although held only in the Downtown Campus, transportation was provided for the students and personnel from the Talamban Campus who wished to register.
In an interview with two of the facilitators of the event, Shannen Tan, president of the Junior Jaycees, and Jude Milag, Youth Affairs Commissioner and proponent of the said event, revealed that the outcome in terms of the number of Carolinians who participated in the registration exceeded their expectations. Their quota was to register 200 Carolinians, but at the end of the registration, it was found out that more than 400 were able to participate and 439 people became registered voters. In line with this, Milag would like to send his gratitude to all Carolinians who supported the event and participated in the registration.
Other schools in Cebu City, such as the University of San Jose-Recoletos and University of Cebu, also held the same event in their respective campuses.
