eResources Roadshow 2017 Hits the Highway in USC-TC

Librarians and representatives from various schools and universities in the Cebu gathered on Aug. 23, 2017 at the Visual Training Room, Learning Resource Center of the University of San Carlos Talamban Campus for the eResources Roadshow 2017.
The eResource Roadshow is an annual Carolinian-arranged event that serves as a means for librarians and library users to delve into the essence of the electronic resources for education, instruction and research. This year, the roadshow revolved around Wheelers Books who pitched their ePlatform and spoke of the advantages this gives to the educational system.
The event was opened by Wheelers Books’ managing director Paul Du Temple who explained that they were here to check the demands of the Philippine market regarding e-resources. “I came here to listen rather than to talk,” he added. The event commenced on Wednesday at around 9:30 a.m.
Afterwards, Wheelers Books’ business development executive Zalfer Pagong took the stage and presented the details, benefits and features of Wheelers ePlatform. The platform offers e-books and audiobooks as an “extension of the library…that is a library management system by itself.”
Wheelers ePlatform provides more than 1,250 e-books and 500 audiobooks that may be accessed via a multi-device application titled “ePlatform” with relevant digital elements enhancing literacy outcomes. Features include the ability to highlight readings, add notes, define words and search for key words or phrases. The ePlatform also aims to attract reluctant readers and support dyslexic readers with settings such as font size, font style, line spacing, word spacing and page columns.
It was revealed that their report for the Carolinian-based event was part of a three-series talk pitching their product to the Filipino community: the first talk was held in De La Salle University in Manila, followed by the University of San Carlos in Cebu City and the last will be held in the University of Mindanao in Davao.
A reception was held after the hour-long event. Pens, call cards, and flyers were also distributed to all attendees for them to take notes and keep contact with Wheelers Books.
