Globe Telecom opens doors for innovative ideas

Communication has been widely extended nowadays and has been highly improved by modern technology. Reaching people has been made easier. Today, Globe has taken it to another level.

Last Sept. 22, a talk about the Globe Game Changer Challenge (GGCC) was organized by Globe Telecommunications held at the Rigney Hall, Bunzel Building of the University of San Carlos, Talamban Campus.

The GGCC is a contest where graduating students from selected universities around the country are encouraged to join. The main purpose of this contest is to help turn ideas and concepts of the participating student leaders into reality to create a better and more innovative world of communication.

Only five universities all around the Philippines that are given the opportunity to join the GGCC. The five lucky universities are: Ateneo de Manila University, University of the Philippines, De La Salle University, Ateneo de Davao University, and the University of San Carlos which is the only university in the Visayas region that has been selected to participate in the contest.

A guest speaker from Globe, Mr. Rase Eustasquio, thoroughly discussed the mechanics of GGCC. From the many who will register, only fifty from each school will be chosen. The basis for selecting them will be: their academic records where good marks are expected; the extra-curricular activities they have joined in school where leadership competences will be measured; and their community service involvements.

After the selection of the fifty students, they will proceed to the second step where they will undergo a leadership seminar at Day 1. From the 50 who are able to join in Day 1, only 35 will be selected to move on to Day 2 where a seminar with regards to innovation will be conducted. Finally, from the 35, only 25 will be left and will be able to proceed until the final step.

The “Wonderful 25” will be divided into five teams and will fly to Manila where they will have an immersion at separate Globe stores. Ten days will be allotted for every team to come up with their own innovative ideas and concepts which they can propose to the company with the aid of their respective mentors.

For the final step, when the teams are done with the creating of ideas, they will be having a face-off where they will present their concepts to the Globe Senior Leadership Team.

On the other side of the talk, another guest speaker from Globe, Mr. Nico Mallillin, stressed on what Management Development Program (MDP) is all about. MDP is a one-year holistic and fast-track leadership and management development program that taps the best and brightest student leader and develops them in a well rounded talent.

The participants who are fortunate to be one of the Wonderful 25 already has the chance to be part of the MDP where they will be mentored by the Globe Senior Leadership Team and be molded into more competent leaders.
