The Supreme Student Council, spearheaded by Councilors Norch Van Honoridez and Kristian Pajanonot, , launched the first ever Innovation Convention (InnovCon) last Friday and Saturday, February 3 – 4, 2017 at the SAFAD Theater, USC Talamban Campus.
InnovCon is a two-day event where Carolinians from the university’s different schools gathered to talk about their ideas and share them with people with the same vision through PowerPoint presentations and an interactive open forum that followed.
Also, different companies like LEAR Corporation, Savvysherpa Asia, Inc., SGV & Co. (Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co,) and VICSAL Foundation were invited to connect the Carolinians with opportunities in line with their goals.
“Our aim is to help meet students with the real world through a collaboration of ideas. [It is] basically bringing progress forward,” stated Honoridez, SSC Councilor.
The 12 presenters for day one were students from Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Marine Biology, Biology and Economics academic programs, who discussed on their respective thesis studies. Furthermore, the eight presenters of day two were Accountancy and Philosophy students.
When Honoridez was asked if he was considering continuing this event next year, he answered, “Yes, I definitely recommend Innovation Convention to be done again next year and to make it even bigger, include more people, give more slots to students and be able to invite more companies.”
