World Choral Celebration Day
What a glorious day to hear the voices of the different University choir groups as they sang their hearts out , joined voices and celebrated at the Cebu Sings World Choral Day Celebration on December 8, 2013 at 5:00PM in Ayala Center Cebu sponsored by Ayala Center Cebu and Philippine Choral Directors Association Region VII.
A good number of the best chorale groups in Cebu participated in this event such as Cebu Normal University Chorale, the Cebu Institute of Technology University Choir, Southwestern University Chorale, University of Cebu Choir, the University of the Southern Philippines Foundation Chorale, Cebu Male Singers, Santa Maria Sunrise Village Choir, University of the Visayas Chorale, Saint Paul College Foundation Inc. Choral Ambassadors, and our very own University of San Carlos Choristers.
The stage was created with beautiful golden curtains and the singers didn’t show any timid actions, instead, they showed their fierce and confident selves. Everyone was ready to perform. They stood on stage with elegant poise. Every single of one of them looked stunning. The audience couldn’t take their eyes off of the performers. The studio lights beamed upon the choirs, and the singers were ready to give it their all.
Every single singer was dressed in eye catching outfits. Some wore modern outfits, some wore colorful sweaters and some wore elegant party outfits. Regardless of what they wore, everyone looked amazing. The beautiful ladies dressed in different styles of evening gowns of blue, yellow, green, pink, red and black bejeweled with sequences. The gentlemen looked dashing and handsome in their dark colored tux and ties.
All of the different University groups joined together and opened World Choral Celebration Day as they sang” Joy to the World” beautifully. After that, the different University choir groups were ready to present.
Conductors such as Raymund Abao, Roberto Del Rosario, Neil Salarda, Jandel Cabasura and many more conducted the choir with great poise, and showed happiness and patience.
Different genres of music such as rock and roll, contemporary pop music, foreign music, old music, and Christmas songs were sung. Some of the different choir groups also took a step higher and presented their songs through mash-ups and medleys.
Voices ranging from alto to bass to soprano to tenor all blended well as the different choirs sang their songs. The angelic sound of the different voices and the proper rhythmic vocals definitely brought the audience and music together.
All University choir groups performed and sang differently, but all choirs presented with such confidence and talent. The audience was amazed with the talent the different Cebuano universities can give. Of course, each and everyone in the audience applauded and cheered loudly after each of the choirs was done presenting.
Our very own University of San Carlos Choristers presented with confidence and beautifully mixed, different-ranged vocals. The singers wore white polo’s and blouses and black slacks and looked amazing and brave. They sang Bohemian Rhapsody by British rock bandQueen and Viva La Vida by British alternative band Coldplay with such awe. Soloist Patrick Losaria delivered justice to the amazing song. Their performance was jaw dropping. The audience appreciated the talent and creativity San Carlos can share towards the others.
It was simply an evening of pure musical talent and glamorous outfits.
