USC-SSC Holds Pep Rally for CESAFI Contenders
University of San Carlos-Supreme Student Council (USC-SSC) organized a pep rally for Warrior’s Week at the Wrocklage Yard, USC Downtown Campus (USC-DC) on July 24, 2017.
According to SSC President, Deodatus Burgos, the objective of the pep rally is to make athletes known to the Carolinians as they will be representing the university in competing against Cebu’s biggest schools in the upcoming Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) 2017 events starting on August 5, 2017 at the Cebu Coliseum. The pep rally is now on its second year, with this year being proposed and organized by SSC councilors Joelia Marie Lee Yu and Dain Dacera.
The event took place at USC-DC as many of the athletes have their classes in the said campus. Burgos also added that they tapped the Sports and Athletics Department under Fr. Adriano Ocariza, SVD and informed the respective coaches of the different sports teams to support the said activity.
The event started with an opening prayer from Burgos and then, opening remarks were delivered by the SSC Vice-President, Joahanna Veloso and was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Next was a singing performance by Kristianne Abangan and the introduction of the players from the university’s taekwondo, badminton, lawn tennis and karatedo teams.
Fhil Abrahm Belos serenaded the crowd which was followed by the introduction of players from the chess, football, table tennis, volleyball and basketball teams.
After, Alnie Caparoso performed a song number and the players from the swimming and track and field teams were introduced. The audience were further entertained by a performance by the university’s Fire Dancers.
Next, the stage was given to the Warriors Turf Ambassadors as they showcased the different products available for sale for the Carolinians. The last one to take the stage was this year’s Ms. CESAFI representative, Charissa Tabar Rama, as she also invited the Carolinians to support and witness the competitions of CESAFI.
To officially end the program, the athletes, together with the Warriors Turf Ambassadors, SSC Officers and Ms. Charissa Tabar Rama, had a photo opportunity and were wished the best of luck for their upcoming competition.
